Industry in Kawachinagano
Rich in natural, historical and cultural resources, and taking advantage of its geographical advantage in proximity to Osaka City and Kansai International Airport, through the interaction of people, information and technology, we are actively pursuing city development that fosters new industries that can respond with flexibility to new trends.
Night stalls at shopping arcade
During summer holidays, night stalls are held at Nagano Shopping Arcade with the financial support of the city. Fishing for goldfish, ring toss and other nostalgic attractions from days past are enjoyed by parents and children alike.
Toothpicks
An industrial feature of our city since the Meiji Period, which accounts for a dominating percentage of national toothpick production.
Trade Show
The enthusiasm and vitality of the young generation of local business leaders can be experienced at this trade show. The Trade Show is held by the junior division of the Kawachinagano Society of Commerce & Industry, and introduces existing products as well as proposes new specialty goods.
Forestry
Kawachinagano is blessed with the resource of its abundant forests. However, local forestry management has been experiencing some troubling times, due to the aging and dwindling numbers of experienced forestry workers who would be able to best utilize this natural bounty. At the Forestry Association, the next generation of forestry workers receives specialist training, while new machinery is introduced with the purpose of further streamlining its operations.
Furthermore, under the concept of "Forests Of The People" where citizens, forestry workers and government work together for the cultivation and utilization of local forests, we are working to realize a new type of approach to forests and forestry.
Amami Nanten
The Amami district is a centre for Nanten (Nandina domestica or sacred bamboo) production. It is highly valued for its uses in ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) and medicine, and is exported around Japan.
Agriculture and Forestry Fair
Still a crowd puller, an exhibition of agricultural, forestry and livestock products including vegetables, fruit and flowers, a spot sale, a woodworking corner and many other events are held at the Agriculture and Forestry Fair.
Oyamada Peaches
Renowned by local residents for their sweetness and exquisite taste, these peaches can be found on kitchen tables in many Kawachinagano households thanks to the ubiquitous fruit stalls found throughout the city.
